Ok, new poll peeps. I want your input on whether or not I should change my blog name back to Every Thought Captive. I realize its not the most important thing on my my plate right now, to be fiddling with a blog layout and title....So rather than consume any more of my time thinking about it, I thought I might get your opinion on the matter. So if you could take the time to vote in the poll on the side bar I'd be most grateful.
This isn't mean to affect your voting as I truly want your honest opinion, but for me personally, I'm kinda missing the old title as it was more meaningful to me and helped me focus on a particular writing style-- one that was pleasing to the Lord in every way. So treat the poll as something fun, because I may end up changing it no matter the results :) I'm mostly just curious to see what you guys think.
Love,
Kaylene

Or a god I hold in the palm of my hand
I have a God Who's holding me .
...
He's the Lord of all the earth
The maker of all things
He alone is the one true God
Kingdoms rise and fall
But even through it all
He remains
The one true God
...
I don't have a thing that I got on my own
I don't have a care that I carry alone
But I have a God who's carrying me
I don't have sin that He doesn't forgive
And I don't have a heart that is worthy of His
But I have a God who still loves me
So I don't need a temporary man made deity
I have a God Who's holding me .
...
He's the Lord of all the earth
The maker of all things
He alone is the one true God
Kingdoms rise and fall
But even through it all
He remains
The one true God
...
I don't have a thing that I got on my own
I don't have a care that I carry alone
But I have a God who's carrying me

And I don't have a heart that is worthy of His
But I have a God who still loves me
So I don't need a temporary man made deity

This week held a lot.
Street witnessing, construction work, classroom time, Bible study and memorization, and fun times hanging out with classmates and my grandparents.
The street witnessing opened my eyes and heart to reach 1. my generation who has been brainwashed to believe that truth doesn't exist and 2. those who haven't had the same blessing of a secure and godly home life.
Construction work was fun. We're helping a man from the church put some finishing touches on his house he's building. My job was to apply expanding foam (insulation) in the cracks around the windows. Some of the yellow foam is still stuck to my fingers. :-)
I've learned an incredible amount about God's Word and about Him. Judging from the first week, I am really anticipating Him working in my life in deep ways these next few months, as I learn about Him and learn to love Him.
Sam, TJ, and Alexis are the names of the great people who are taking this training with me. Their hearts for the Lord are an encouragement to me and I'm excited to see the Lord working in their lives as well. We really have fun hanging out together-- we're working on being purposeful with our time. :-) They all have incredibly fun personalities.
Yesterday we looked into some volunteer opportunities here locally. I'm looking forward to see what comes of that. That may be something good to post on in the future.
A big hello to everybody back at home and thanks for the emails and prayers!

I'm here.
One of the first things I noticed from the plane when I arriving, was that I could hardly see the ground for the trees. And there was bodies of water everywhere. I've visited here before, but I seemed to notice this in a new way, thinking of the terrain I was used to, and comparing it to the terrain I'll be in for the next few months.
Both flights were uneventful and quite enjoyable for the most part. Except...I didn't care to wake the person next to me to use the lavatory while in flight, so I waited. Yes, this is relevant, because something got me to laughing in the airport bathroom , right after I landed. The flusher handle was green. I laugh easily. There were words on the toilet claiming that their toilets used less water when flushed (with the green flusher). I was reminded that this is not just a land full of trees, but a land full of people who hug them. Some of my Texas Homies may not understand what flushing and trees have to do with each other. Lets just say its a mindset and to some its more political than anything. :)
Oh, and my guitar! Its here with me! I fretted about not being allowed to take it on as a carry-on (and I was a-feared for it, and wouldn't check it). By the Airlines' carry-on limits listed on their site, my guitar was too tall. Thankfully, the only person who even commented on it was the guy at security. He said he wouldn't put it through the x-ray machine and let me be on my way, until I played him a tune. "Normal procedure for musicians who fly" he said. Thankfully my strings were loosened and I had a better excuse than "I don't even know how to play this instrument that I'm insisting on taking with me wherever I go."
I'm currently here in my snug-as-bug-in-rug room that my Grandma had completely ready for occupation. I love it and am going to enjoy being here and studying in this lovely room. I'm being spoiled already.
Classes start tomorrow!

As 2009 begins I keep thinking of the many different things I'm interested in and wonder if or when I'll ever study them.
I want to learn more about taking pictures. I want to learn more about delivering babies. (midwifery). I want to learn more about speaking the Spanish language. I want to learn more about designing web pages. I want to learn more about playing the guitar. The list goes on. But more than anything, I want to learn more about Jesus. I want to learn more about living for Him.
I'm thankful that in so many of these areas, God has and continues to provide avenues for me to learn them. Sometimes its less than what some would call official "training", but hopefully as years pass I'll become good at a one or two of these things and I can serve God through it. I'm thankful He accepts even my attempts at learning, as service to His name, if done for His sake.
I guess to sum things up, I'm just really excited thinking about all the possibilities for the New Year. Sometimes I laugh at myself, because I say I want to learn something but am far from ambitious when it comes right down to it. In fact, I haven't even made any of these things that I want to learn, New Year's resolution. We'll see how much I've studied by the end of the year. It could end up being an entirely different list!
Did ya'll make resolutions this year? Have you in the past?

I've been rather neglectful of this blog lately. Which is rather sad, as it has just barely gotten of the ground. I shall try to be more faithful, though life doesn't show any signs of slowing down.
This Saturday I'm flying to another state, where I'll stay for 6 months. I'll be living with my grandparents and attending a Missions training program. I'm really looking forward to this, to say the least! I'm anticipating learning so much in the coming months and really hope to use this time as a time of refocusing on Jesus' face and His purpose for me... Setting all distractions aside.
The training puts lots of emphasize on Bible study and training in Evangelism. Once a month or so, we will probably take trips and minister in other cities. They also encourage becoming involved in ministry opportunities that are available right where we're living. I've very excited about this aspect of the training. Its planned out to where I'll have time for "book-learning" and have time for "hands-on". I sure would appreciate your prayers as I launch out into this new adventure.
I'm going to attempt at keeping this blog up to date. If nothing else, as place for peeps from home to come and get updated. So keep checking back and keep me posted on your lives too!
